What Stereotypes do you believe to be true and false?

My position is that not all stereotypes are false. Logically speaking, they can't be. But obviously, we all have patterns, both as individuals and groups.





It doesn't have to be racist or anything negative, it just can be an plain observation of reality, both good and bad.





Bias is part of life. We all have them. What do you think? What have you experienced in your life with certain groups? Tell me what you think are 3 stereotypes that are true, and 3 stereotypes and commonly held perceptions that are absolutely false.





Again, I'm not looking for hatred or judgment, just experience.





And please, I'm trying to avoid the 22-year old one sentence answers from souls who can neither spell nor think. I get quite a bit of the ';hey I've had seven beers and a valium'; responses and attempting to filter those out, even though some I admit are pretty humorous.





So that's one of my biases based on experience. What are yours?

1) Well, I havent ran into any asians on welfare.





2) I havent known any hispanics who have not been good mechanics or interested heavily in cars.





3) I have only known one african american who didnt listen to rap.





4) I believe the stereotype that babies and pregnant women make foul bm's.





5) Only bald, balding, the wigged, or young spoiled females drive convertables. If its a corvette, then the driver is only bald, balding or the wigged.What Stereotypes do you believe to be true and false?
my ';postion'; has always been based on experience. Sterotypes are NOT often false. They exist because they are well known experiences.

Hmm. Some stereotypes. Here goes:





People who drive sports cars are bad drivers. (Some are.)





Plumbers are uneducated. (Ever tried to fix your own plumbing?)





Old folks are boring. (Lots of people are boring, age is irrelevant.)





Rich people are stuck up. (See above.)





Teenagers who wear black worship satan. (Doubtful.)





Black people have ';rhythm.'; (Hmmm...)





Spanish people are hot-blooded. (True! But also a stereotype.)





Asians are intelligent math whizzes. (Statistically, yes?)





Got a little carried away there. Must stop!

jews like to hold onto their money





blonds ARE kinda dumb

None, whatsoever, are absolutely false. Stereotypes don't just materialize out of thin air. They are all firmly rooted in truth. All of the well known ones, that we've all heard a million times, are true to a greater or lesser extent and not all stereotypes are negative.


Everyone is biased or prejudiced to some degree. Anyone who claims otherwise is only fooling themselves.
if everyone in the same race does the same thing then the argument of a stereotype being true, is true, you have been around long enough to figure this question out, if not you might want to socialize

I can't think of any stereotype that is 100% true....or 100% false.
