What are the true and false about the French not bathing?

My ex GF was french and she smelled great! She shaved her pits too so it's not all french people that don't shower. She was the best kisser too, how ironic?What are the true and false about the French not bathing?
I had a French co-worker once for whom this was definitely true. He thought he was covering it up by using massive amounts of aftershave, but it was really just making it worse. I honestly never met a person who smelled so bad. Behind his back we called him ';Pepe le Pew'; (like the cartoon character) because he was French, smelled awful, and expected everyone to love him.





But he was the exception. Other French people I have met seem acceptably clean.
