best answer to whoever answers it right firstIf you take the mean of 2 consecutive prime numbers it is never prime. True/False and WHY?
I assume you mean the arithmetic mean (p+q)/2. If p and q are consecutive prime numbers, then p %26lt;= (p+q)/2 %26lt;= q. Since q is the first prime number after p, (p+q)/2 cannot be prime.If you take the mean of 2 consecutive prime numbers it is never prime. True/False and WHY?
If you take the mean [or average] of any two prime numbers the answer is an even number.
No even number is a prime number.
Prime numbers are all odd numbers [two is not now considered prime]
For example.
Add any two ODD numbers and halve that answer.
The answer is always even.
3 2
3+2= 5 divided by 2 = 2.5 false only one way to get to 2.5
2.5x1= 2.5
